How the New Salary System Works The federal government has agreed to increase the salaries of federal government employees. 

The federal government has approved a 25% to 35% salary increase for civil servants on the remaining six salary scales. 

The salary system is the Consolidation of Public Service Salary System (CONPSS), Research Incentive and Allied Schools Pay System (CONRAISS), Consolidated Police Pay System (CONPOSS), Consolidated Military Pay System (CONPASS), Consolidated Intelligence Community Salary System (CONICCS), and Armed Forces Salary System (CONAFSS). 

It can be recalled that those in higher education and health have already received additional funds, including the Consolidated University Academic Salary Structure (CONUASS) and the Consolidated Tertiary Institutions Salary Structure (CONTISS). for universities. ● For Polytechnics and Colleges of Education, it contains the Creation of Technical Schools and Colleges of Education Staff Salary System (CONPCASS) and the Consolidation of Higher Education Salary System (CONTEDISS). 

The health sector also benefited from the Consolidated Medical Salary System (CONMESS) and the Health Department Salary System (CONHESS). In a statement signed by the Head of Press, Wages, Revenues, and Wages Commission (NSIWC), Emmanuel Njoku said that the salary increase will take effect on January 1, 2024. 

The federal government has also approved a pension increase of between 20% and 28% for pensioners on the defined benefit system in respect of the above-mentioned six-salary system, effective January 1, 2024.
