FG Grant: Requirements for the Nigerian Unemployed Persons Programme
In 1986, the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) was established to tackle the problem of unemployment in the country. NDE is made up of different programs, among them the Vocational Skills Development Programme, Small Scale Enterprises, Rural Employment Promotion, and Special Public Work. The basic aim of the mentioned programs is to provide business training and facilitate the establishment of microbusinesses as a means of employment. Today, NDE completed over 90 projects, of which there are 4.1K in rural employment promotion, 3.0K in small-scale enterprises, and 2.5K in vocational skills development programs. Here we are going to guide you on how to benefit from the new program called the Special Public Work or Unemployment 20,000 Grant.
According to the National Directorate of Employment, all categories of unemployed Nigerians are qualified to apply. Whether you are
- University graduates
- Graduates of tertiary institutions
- HND, OND, and diploma holders
- WAEC and NECO holders
- School dropouts
- the uneducated
- People living with disabilities
All the categories of people listed above who are unemployed should visit the NDE office in their respective state capitals or all council secretariats to get registered.
