How to Make Swiss Roll
Ingredients:
Melted butter to grease
4 eggs, separate
125g sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup flour
Food coloring
Method
1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees. Brush your Swiss roll pan with melted butter and line with baking paper.
2. Use an electric beater to beat egg yolks, sugar and vanilla extract in a bowl until a ribbon trail forms when the beater is lifted.
3. Use beater to beat egg whites until soft peaks form.
4. Fold into yolk mixture
5. Sift over flour and use a spoon to gently fold until combined.
6. Add red food coloring until you reach your desired pink color.
7. In three small bowls, place 2 tablespoons of the batter, then add red, green, and purple coloring.
8. Transfer each batter to pastry bags.
9. Pipe round shapes onto parchment paper. Bake in preheated oven for 1 minute.
10. Pour batter onto baking pan with baked pattern. Spread batter evenly with a scraper. Gently tap pan to remove any air pockets.
11. Bake in the oven for 14 minutes.
12. When it's done cut around the pan sides.
13. Cover with parchment paper flip upside down and gently remove the parchment paper you bake the cake with. Roll it up and allow to cool
14. Once it's completely cool unroll and gently brush the cake with sugar syrup
15. Coat the surface with any filling of your choice (butter cream, whipped cream, jam or chocolate spread). Gently roll it, you can refrigerate or save as it is. Enjoy
